The refurbishment of a traditional East Lothian cottage and a new extension to the side and rear within the local conservation area.
The position of the new extension creates a small courtyard sun trap to the side of the existing cottage. The new extension mimics the proportions and form of the existing cottage but with Scottish Larch cladding and a stainless steel roof.
Substantial glazing provides natural light and to harness the suns heat from the courtyard. The extension provides a kitchen/dining, sitting area and a shower room. The new roof is extended to the garden to provide a covered external seating/dining area.
