New studio on the banks of the river Tyne to provide a home office space; a sitting area with wood burning stove; a mezzanine deck area and external stores for equipment.
The structure is a traditional cruck frame in Douglas Fir. The frame is the centre piece of the project and is fully expressed internally with the corresponding walls and glazing wrapping around it. The large areas of glazing provide light for working and views of the river. The exterior of the studio is clad in Scottish Larch left untreated to weather naturally and blend in with the wooded surroundings.
