Alterations to the existing cottage to provide new kitchen/dining space and a new garden room extension, porch and dormer window within the local conservation area.
The alterations moved the existing kitchen space to the front of the house and the walls to the middle and the rear of the house are opened up to provide an open plan dining area from the kitchen connected to the new garden room. The garden room is located at the lower garden level and accessed by internal steps from the dining area. This has provided a stronger connection with the garden all the way through the house. The garden room extension is finished in Western Red Cedar with a zinc roof. The new porch and dormer window attempt to reconcile tradition materials and detailing with contemporary glazing and painted in the local Tyninghame Green.
